Assessment fits into the larger framework of the Duke Quality and Impact Initiative. Assessment focuses on measuring performance and then using the results of the measurement to create positive change and improvements. The assessment cycle encompasses setting objectives, identifying and collecting evidence of success, and then using the results in the decision making process for future planning.
At Duke, assessment is a common practice in both academic and support units. There are oversight structures in place to monitor and assist in assessment activities across campus. Additional support is available through various offices across the institution.
